KITCHEN ANGELS (FUNERAL LUNCHEON) MINISTRY
The Kitchen Angels are a group of church members who prepare and serve funeral
luncheons to bereaved members and immediate families. It is such a blessing to
know that there are so many generous people in this church who can be counted on
to be there when the need arises. By being there for our church family in their
time of need, we not only feed their hunger, but also their spirit. It is our
way of making a difficult time a little easier.
Our Angels come in many forms, whether it is someone making a casserole or a
cake, setting up tables, washing dishes, cleaning up or just being there to help
wherever needed.
Please consider earning your wings and become a Kitchen Angel!
PRAYER CHAIN MINISTRY
The Prayer Chain consists of many church members who are "on call" for those who
have immediate prayer needs. The Prayer Chain consists of the pastor, 2
coordinators and seven different prayer teams, each team headed by a captain.
The coordinators receive the telephone call for the immediate prayer need, call
their designated captains, who in turn call the members of their prayer teams --
and everyone is praying for the one in need!
Prayer is powerful. Please consider joining this ministry or calling the Prayer
Chain when you have an immediate prayer need.
PUPPET MINISTRY
George Terebush and Randy Hunt lead this ministry in spreading
the Word of Jesus Christ through the art form of puppetry. Many church members
have joined this ministry and witness to our younger children by leading the
children's sermon portion of the Sunday morning worship service. Be a part of
this dynamic and fun way of sharing the Word of God by becoming a puppeteer in
this ministry.
MILITARY FAMILIES PRAYER AND SUPPORT GROUP
We now have a prayer and support group for the military
families in our community. The group meets on the 4th Monday of each month
in the Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Carol Palmer (from our church) and Julie Barany
(from the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge) co-coordinate the group.
If you or someone you know has a loved one in the military service, please join
us or invite your friend for prayer and support. If you have any
questions, please call the Church Office.
2X4 BIBLE STUDY
The 2x4 Bible Study is our church's Adult Bible Study which meets every Wednesday. The time: 7:30 p.m.
The place: 511 Hyatt Street, Avenel, NJ.
Do you have questions? Are you hungry for more of God? It doesn't matter where
you are at in your Christian walk, all are welcome. Enjoy good fellowship with
other Christians who are seeking a deeper relationship with God.
TAPE MINISTRY
Have you ever missed a great Sunday sermon because you were out of town, ill or
volunteering for Toddler Care or Adventures in Worship? Or was there ever a
Sunday where you found the choir to be so inspiring that you thought you could
listen to them all day? Well, now you don't have to miss a sermon, and if there
was a service that you especially liked, you CAN hear it again!
Each and every service given in our Sanctuary, be it a regular Sunday morning
service, the Tenebrae Service before Easter or Candlelight Service for
Christmas, is tape-recorded. These cassettes are available to any member of the
congregation at any time. Members may keep the cassettes as long as they need
to. We do ask, however, that once you are finished with the tapes that they be
promptly returned so that others may enjoy them too.
We hope you will use and enjoy this ministry for yourself or someone you know
who may need spiritual guidance.
LIBRARY MINISTRY
Looking for more Christian literature? There is a wealth of good reading
material in our tiny Church Library. It is located in the room at the back of
the Sanctuary in a cabinet marked "Church Library." It is easy to check out a
book. Simply remove the card in the pocket of the book, write your name and the
date on the card, and place the card in the large index box also located in the
cabinet. Take the book home, read it, enjoy it, and then return it for someone
else to enjoy. Upon returning the book, remove the card from the index box,
place it back in the card pocket of the book, and put the book back on the shelf
in the letter section of the first letter of the author's last name.
