MUSIC PROGRAMS
at the First Presbyterian Church of Avenel
Sanctuary

Welcome to our Music Notes page.  This Church has been blessed with many talented and gifted people.
Below is some information regarding each different musical group.  Information for special events
and concerts will be posted on our home page when and as it becomes available.

CHANCEL CHOIR

The Chancel Choir is our adult choir under the direction of Mrs. Debbie Tarby. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Choir Room of the Sanctuary. Please share the gift of voice that the Lord has given to you by coming to rehearsal and singing for our Lord on Sunday mornings!

CAROL CHOIR

The Carol Choir is for everyone age 4 through 2nd grade.  Rehearsals will be on Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Choir Room of the Sanctuary.  Come sing a joyful song to the Lord!

WORSHIP AND PRAISE BAND

Our Praise Band leads an acoustic-rock style of worship every Sunday at our Contemporary Worship Service at 11:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary.  It is an eclectic group of musicians from a variety of musical traditions -- all joining together to praise God!  If you are interested in auditioning for the band, please contact Pastor Jason.

GLORY BRASS

Glory Brass is a church-based brass quintet committed to excellence in the performance of both classical and sacred music. All of the members of Glory Brass are trained musicians and all profess their faith in Jesus Christ. Our demonstration of faith, both individually and collectively, is to utilize our God-given talents through the performance of inspiring music.
Since its inception in 1996, Glory Brass has performed at worship services, weddings, programs and community services in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Our group currently consists of Rebecca Tarby and Robert Hornyak on trumpets, Randy Hunt and Mark Tarby on euphonium, and Darla Hunt on tuba. We do not charge for our services. We are solely dependant on donations for our operating costs, such as music, transportation and mailings.
The name "Glory Brass" is officially registered with the Middlesex County Clerk's Office since 2004. Please check regularly for information and updates on our performances by visiting our church's homepage at http://avenelpresbyterianchurch.org.

JOYFUL RINGERS

The Joyful Ringers is our hand bell choir under the direction of Randy Hunt. Our members range in age from nine years old through adults. Our total membership varies due to the fact that many of these talented musicians perform in other groups. We rehearse on Sunday afternoons from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and use a three-octave set of Schulmerich hand bells for most of the pieces we play.
If you are interested in joining this group, please contact Randy or Darla Hunt. No musical experience is necessary. If you have the desire, we can teach you. If you join us, we can guarantee you will receive joy and blessings you have to experience to believe.

ALL THUMBS

All Thumbs is a church-based quartet consisting of George Terebush on guitar, Randy Hunt on bass, Rich Culton on guitar and banjo, and Jake Stockl on harmonica.  Under George's direction, this quartet can be heard during some of our Sunday morning worship services.  They are a must-see.
